The exhibitors at Juxtapose Art Fair have come up with an interesting and wide-ranging array of events spanning performances, readings, ceremonies, music and much more, taking place in many different locations at Godsbanen.

Friday, September 1

Opening (in English)

17.00-21.00, Rå Hal

18.00 – Welcome by Jacob Juhl, founder and co-organizer of Juxtapose.

Opening speech by Signe Vad, visual artist, climate activist, independent curator and advisory board member of Juxtapose Art Fair.

Animagagak (concert)

19.00-19.40, Radar

Live music and films. Animations by Charlotte Petersen on the theme Giving nature back to nature, a journey of transformation and appeal for cooperation. Along with the films, live music is played by Gunnar Wille, Skye Løfvander and Charlotte Petersen. Age group: adults and older children. Presented by Meteor International.

Paper bodies intervention by Ilana and Sabrina (performance)

19.00-20.00, Rooftop
Throughout the art fair, Sabrina and Ilana present aspects of their latest durational performance The practice of never meeting. They immerse themselves in 50 meter rolls of paper and create what they call Paper bodies, paper structures that are formed through bodies in movement. These structures are alive: they spin, crumble, fold and roll. Presented by Paper Bodies.

!LD ! D!T ANS!GT (performance)

19.00, A M O K’s space

You never know what to expect from !LD ! D!T ANS!GT (“Fire in Your Face”) - two shows are never the same - though the improvisation often concern physical and linguistic energy, noise and destructiveness. Presented by A M O K 2.0.

Analog-Karaoke

Liam Nielsen invites to Analog-Karaoke with A M O K all-stars. Sing your favorite songs in the flickering glow of cathode-ray tubes.

Fire Ritual (perfomance)

20.00, Outside of Rå Hal

Fire Ritual is a signature performance of Vi Lever På Polsk, repeated several times per year. It is a participatory gathering by the fire, inspired by Buddhist cleansing ceremonies and art writing improvisations. Circling the fire, we offer symbolic substances and practice social empathy through togetherness.

Burning Viper III

12.00-22.00, Huggeormen

Experience exciting ceramic firings at Huggeormen! Burning Viper III is a project with experimental firings in a series of firing sculptures that simultaneously function as ceramic kilns.

12.00-20.00: The ovens are lit and the firing can be followed all day.
20.00-22.00: Huggeormen opens their bar.

Collage and collective painting (workshop)

A M O K’s space

Come to the A M O K stand during Saturday to participate in collage-making and collective painting. Everyone is welcome!

Casino Pregame

Game demos, with opportunities for special bets and prizes. For example, play War against Anders Qvist Nielsen or live roulette with Camilla Gaugler. Strategies, tips and tricks for the game will be demonstrated here. Presented by QWERTY.

Musical improvisation (workshop)

Afternoon, A M O K’s space

Music is music is music. This workshop is not about music, it’s about using the musicality as a latent communicative instinct. We will communicate through sound and soundscapes, exploring them to create a unity. The workshop is held during the afternoon where people can come and go as they please. The event is hosted by A M O K 2.0 and presented by Jakob Emil.

Queer Meditation by Bartek Arobal Kociemba

This is a space for strengthening, connecting, and celebrating shared humanity among the LGBTQI+ community and our allies. It introduces ways to meet and nurture the spiritual side of our lives in an open and nonjudgmental atmosphere. You don’t have to consider yourself good at meditating to try. Presented by Vi Lever På Polsk.

Korean Painting Workshop (in English)

14.00-15.00, Paper Bodies’ space

This Korean Painting Workshop will start with a short meditation and breath control exercise, followed by a primary line drawing with different breathing methods. You will learn how to hold the brush and be aware of your body posture in relation to this drawing technique. Throughout the entire process, you will be in flow mode, which will help you connect with your inner self. Kelly Jang will lead this workshop with max. 6-10 people for about an hour. Blessed Be The Witches (in English)

16.30, Radar

As a queer witch, Vala Foltyn choreographs rituals as reenactments of difficult pasts in the search for queer futures. She creates a nonhostile environment for the dead and invites those alive to walk between the realms, opening and speaking with the archives. Presented by Vi Lever På Polsk.

Noise + VHS-Fabrikken’s Live Visuals

Concert with local noise performers: Glamour Coma featuring Pride Of Nakskov, Skærmfølelse, Prefix Suffix, Gravhund, and Glaspest.

Burning Viper III

Experience exciting ceramic firings at Huggeormen! Burning Viper III is a project with experimental firings in a series of firing sculptures that simultaneously function as ceramic kilns. On Sunday the burnt ovens are opened, and you can experience the finished “oven sculptures” - as well as the items that have been fired inside the ovens.

MANIFESTO by Aysha Amin (in English)

Join us as Aysha Amin, the founder of Andromeda 8220, an art and architecture gallery located in Gellerup, Aarhus, talks about the essence, activities, and purpose of Andromeda 8220. During the event, Amin will deliver a visually, sonically, and verbally expressive manifesto on entangled spaces, exploring various themes including our collective hybridity, interdisciplinary collaborations, historical preservation, designing for future generations, the presence of glitches, parasites, and the significance of human connection and intimacy. The event is hosted by The Visual Artists Association (BKF) and presented by Andromeda 8220.

The M100 Talk Show (in English)

15.00-16.00, Radar

M100 will host this Talk Show, where invited guests will be challenged with questions that address the identity and relevance of artist-run exhibition spaces. What separates an artist-run venue from all other exhibition venues and galleries? Is there really anything special about it and who is it important to? M100, Tine Oksbjerg and Mikkel Larris will bring us the answers in their very own humorous way and explain why running a local exhibition venue can be a real “adventure”. The event is hosted by The Visual Artists Association (BKF) and presented by M100.
